Taxonomic re-evaluation of the enigmatic Pyrus magyarica (Rosaceae)
Pyrus magyarica was considered as a “superendemic” species of the Carpathian Basin for a long time; however, despite its presumed significance, doubts about its taxonomical status have been raised. the confusions originate from the invalidity of the description and the lack of type material. latter interpretations are not consistent and contradict the description of the species in the protologu...
متن کاملAsynchronous development of stigmatic receptivity in the pear (Pyrus communis; Rosaceae) flower.
While stigma anatomy is well documented for a good number of species, little information is available on the acquisition and cessation of stigmatic receptivity. The aim of this work is to characterize the development of stigma receptivity, from anthesis to stigma degeneration, in the pentacarpellar pear (Pyrus communis) flower. Stigma development and stigmatic receptivity were monitored over tw...
متن کاملMicromorphological study on the seeds of wild species of Pyrus (Rosaceae) in Iran and their taxonomic implication
The seed micromorphological characters of 15 taxa of Iranian Pyrus comprising 22 individuals were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Digital Microscopy (DM) for the first time in this survey. For the assessment of probable ecological effects, several individuals of some widespread species were studied. After collecting several samples of each wild taxa of Pyrus from different lo...
متن کاملLectotypification of Linnaean names in Pedicularis (Orobanchaceae)
Ten Linnaean names of Pedicularis (Orobanchaceae) are lectotypified: P. comosa, P. flammea, P. hirsuta, P. incarnata, P. lapponica, P. resupinata, P. rostrata, P. tristis, P. tuberosa and P. verticillata. Lectotypes are designated from the Linnaean herbarium at LINN. The type choices made here maintain the present usage of the corresponding Linnaean names for ten Pedicularis species.
متن کاملNeillia Includes Stephanandra (Rosaceae)
Recent phylogenetic analyses of tribe Neillieae in Rosaceae, which comprises Neillia, Physocarpus, and Stephanandra, based on both nuclear and chloroplast DNA sequences revealed that Neillia and Stephanandra together form a strongly supported monophyletic group and that species of Stephanandra are nested within Neillia. The close relationship between Neillia and Stephanandra is also supported b...
